Students Develop Problem-Solving Skills through Inquiry, Discovery and Collaboration.
Students Research and Preserve Their Family History.
By investigating their family’s history, students find out about their family’s place of origin, the historical period when members lived, the historic events that affected their lives, and their family’s culture and traditions. All that they discover is preserved in each student’s family tree online, where it can be shared with friends, family members and classmates.
With Every Generation, Learning Grows and Expands.
Each student discovers details about their family, generation by generation. With their new knowledge, students have an opportunity to present their family history to their class through a variety of engaging projects and assignments that are part of the Ohana Learning Series curriculum. Students build critical thinking skills and develop their abilities to present their findings.
Students Share the Experiences and Accomplishments of their Ancestors.
By sharing the results of their Inquiry and presenting all that they have Discovered, students reinforce their own learning experience and enhance their classmates findings with a broader perspective. Collaboration becomes an important skill for future success as students learn benefits of mutual support and curiosity about their classmates’ learning experience.
